I was at Steve Harris Imports in Salt Lake City having a chat with them recently. Our conversation found its way to Richard Losee’s Most Mile Enzo. The car was, and still is the most well known Enzo, second perhaps only to Mr. Glickenhaus’ P4/5. I was able to hear the whole story from the dealer and friend who originally sold Mr. Losee his Enzo and would coordinate rebuilding it in to the monster it is today. Many are probably familiar with the story and images, but getting the opportunity to see the legendary car and hear the story again was awesome.
While out on the Utah Fast Pass event Losee was in his already unique Enzo which had had a targa top modification and was taking advantage of the 20 miles of SR 257 that had been closed by Utah Highway Patrol for the event. While cruising with the speedo in the triple digits, the MM Enzo and Losee would meet what many figured to be the final chapter for the two of them. The widely publicized accident which sent the car flipping multiple times, looked absolutely horrific. While Mr. Losee was in the hospital, every piece of the car that could be found, from the engine to small carbon fiber shrouds, were gathered and put in to a private garage owned by the local Ferrari dealer. While Ferrari refused to rebuild the car, Losee refused to buy a new one; the MM Enzo had become much more than a just a car.
The end result of a huge collaboration and investment of time and money put towards rebuilding and custom fabrication, is the twin-turbo, land speed recording holding MM Enzo TT as she sits today.
